A principios de los ochenta, The Police sacó su sencillo “King of pain”. Varios años después, Alanis Morissette realizó este cóver durante su concierto de MTV Unplugged. La canción no es precisamente alegre. Hay mucho desencanto y tristeza, un pesar que no puede explicarse: por eso el listado de imágenes de desamparo, de impotencia. “The same old thing as yesterday”. El destino del que se habla en la canción es ineludible, como el destino de los dioses o de los santos. Los reyes del dolor.
